At the end of July, Representative Jenny Armini and I were invited into the home of the Stiles Family to learn about their lived experience as a family with a child who has Spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy. We spent the afternoon hearing about their daughter Lucy’s day-to-day routine, spending time with Lucy and her care team as she came home from school, and learning more about how state lawmakers can support medically complex individuals in Massachusetts. ![]()

Throughout the summer, we have had the opportunity to host college interns who have ties to the North Shore through the Senate's summer internship program. As part of the economic development package passed by the Senate last week, I was proud to work with my colleagues to include regulations for micromobility devices, including electric scooters and e-bikes by adopting an innovative speed-based framework to keep pace with rapidly evolving technology and address widespread safety concerns.![]()
E-bikes are an important part of our transportation system, giving an affordable way for residents to get to work, school, the grocery store, medical appointments, and connect with our public transportation system. As Senate Chair of the Joint Committee on Transportation, I was proud to collaborate with stakeholders in municipal government, law enforcement, small business owners, and transportation advocates to build a framework that prioritizes safety for everyone on our roads, bike lanes, sidewalks, and trails. Striking the right balance between accessibility and safety, this policy is a critical step to prevent serious injuries and save lives.

It was great to join with the Boys & Girls Club of Lynn to commemorate the next step of their capital project with the raising of the final beam. Everyone signed the beam before it was placed, representing the collaboration it has taken to get to this important milestone of the project.![]()
Thanks to entire team at BGCL, the generous donors, construction workers, youth club members and volunteers, and all of the local and state officials who have supported this effort. We look forward to seeing the new space when it opens later this year!
In recognition of Disability Pride Month and 36 years of the Americans with Disabilities Act, we joined with city officials, community members, and advocates for a flag raising ceremony and celebration. A huge thank you to Louise Dominique, the Lynn Disability Commission, Lynn Disability Network and Caring Hearts Special Rights for putting together this event and for the work you do every day to uplift our disability community and support equity, inclusion, and accessibility for everyone.
